For the first lecture of the second semester of 2017/2018, the Faculty of Fishery and Marine Scielnce of Padjajaran University (UNPAD) held a public lecture for the civitas academica titled “The Future of Fisheries and Marine Resources” in Bale Sawala, UNPAD Rectorate, Jatinangor, on Monday (2/19).

The event was attended by three levels of students as a long-term perspective development, also as a hospitality event and to maintain good relationship between the civitas academy and the government as the business doers.
The Dean of FPIK UNPAD, Dr. Sc.Agr. Yudi Nurul Ihsan, S.Pi, M.Si, previously stated, “The obstacles are becoming even more challenging in the future. If only one educational institution moves forward, probably it will fail. It needs to collaborate and synergize with other institutions.”
This event continued with synergizing with Bappenas, non-government organizations, and other business people, in order to create a program that is truly useful and continuous for the people.
The Main Secretary of Appenas / Main Head of ISPIKANI, Dr. Ir. Gellwyn Yusuf, M.Sc, in his forewords, explained the big picture of the importance of the role of Fishery and Marine Resources as the capital to build the future (The Future of Fisheries and Marine Resource Development).
As previously known, Fishery and Marine are the key to a continuous development, as stated in the Challenges in Implementing of SDG 14 Life Below Water.
“As an Indonesian I see that this country can grow to become the center of world’s maritime. The fish resources can be developed to match and even surpass China’s,” Andi J Sunadim stated.
During this event, the Committee of the Jawa Barat branch of Indonesian Fishery Scholars Association (ISPIKANI) was also reaffirmed, continued with the main event, which is collaborating to discuss how natural resources such as the ocean gives vast opportunity in career and businesses for current and future FPIK graduates.
The speakers of this public lecture are Dr. Herry Putranto, S.E (Head of National Oil and Gas Association), Sabam Hutajulu (CEO of PT Jardine Lloyd Thompson), and Andi J. Sunadim, S.Mn (Director of PT Gani Arta Dwitunggal).
Collaboration
Gellwyn stated, in regards to the collaboration between BAPPENAS and UNPAD, UNPAD as the center of SDG is expected to contribute ideas and inputs for the disposition of Mid-term Development Plan (RPJM).
Andi J Sunadim said his company is currently establishing collaboration between Aquatec and UNPAD. “We have donated marine cages for the research of Papain Crude Enzyme Extract on seawater fish feed, headed by Mrs. Rita Rostika. In the future, the need for any additional cages will be facilitated by Aquatec.”

Yudi added, “UNPAD has a campus located in Pangandaran, which we will make into a model to achieve the SDG number 14 goal, where we will collaborate with PT Gani Arta to build a marine cultivation center. Then, we will collaborate with the Indonesian oil and gas community to utilize idle or unused marine ponds for fishery activities and so on. We also intend to synergize community service programs with other institutions.
